Benji is a beloved cat in his neighborhood. Animals and people enjoy playing with him as he bounces around in people's
yards. One day, Benji found a yard that was not friendly. He limped home late and it was discovered that his leg had been
caught in something. There was no skin, no muscles, only bone and tendons. We are suspecting he was caught in a trap, as the
same thing has happened to a stray cat and a raccoon. We posted signs around the neighborhood. They were torn down. We put
up more. After a long recovery, Benji finally stepped outside again, although he will never regain movement in his toe.
Only days after he was allowed back out to play with his friends, disaster struck again. Benji didn't come home. We worried.
Late at night, Benji crawled home. We searched for signs of the trap or whatever it had been, but only saw a small cut. The
next morning he was taken to the vet's, and discovered he'd been hit by a car. His hip is shattered as is his leg. He will
need screws and plates put in, and possibly an amputation. We still haven't fully paid off his last vet bill, and
this one promises to cost around $3000. This may not be a lot to most people, but his owners are my grandparents, who
are both on pension. I myself am on disability and can't afford much. Please help save our Benji.
If you cannot help, please enjoy pictures of Benji on the next pages, showing him enjoying his life.
